Widescreen Laptops

Laptops of today run hotter than ever. Especially the higher performing laptops running on fast CPU's and high RPM hard drives. The problem with all that heat is that most laptops are designed to be quiet and thin and have very little stock cooling. If you run your hot laptop 24/7 then you'll want to make sure you supply it with the best cooling possible to ensure long life.

The problem is that most of these laptops on the advanced end of the spectrum are 15" and 17" widescreen laptops with the best ever and hottest hardware inside and there just is very little choice when it comes to cooling 17" widescreen laptops especially. Well today one such product marketed specifically at the larger widescreen laptops including the 17" big dogs.  Evercool offers such screen sizes and it's called the Space Station Widescreen Cooling Pad. The widescreen laptops sports dual 80mm exhaust fans and 4 internal exhaust ports, hence the quad orientation, strategically funneled through the unit. Taking a closer look we can see if this product holds true to cool and hold a large 17" laptop.

Now, we know that we require high standards, but I can't believe that some of the things that I really want in a laptop are no longer available. About a year ago, old Dell Inspiron 8100 was about to bite the dust. It was 6 years old in the market, but the problem with it were it overheated frequently, one of the two batteries it had was essentially a short circuit.

One of the main reasons many buy a laptop was that it went well with my 20" LCD monitor. They both had the maximum resolution, and 1600x1200 resolutions on a 15" screen really isn't that bad once you're used to it. In fact, when you get used to it it's very tough to go to anything else. I a little bit of concerned that the screen resolution wasn't quite what we were using old ones, but with the advent of widescreen monitor. Every thing has become clear.
