IBM stands for International Business Machines Corporation, a giant in American computer technology firm with its headquarters located in Armonk, NY, USA. IBM which was established in 1888 manufactures and markets computer hardware, infrastructure services, software, hosting services, and consulting services.

IBM first developed the punched card data processing equipment, and then after some years it started making IBM ThinkPad versions for laptops. This was as a result of merging the three companies, Ohio and the International Time Recording Company of Endicott, NY the Tabulating Machine Corporation of Washington D.C, the Computing Scale Corporation of Dayton.

  Located in the Northern Hemisphere, IBM has 8 laboratories, out of those 3 are located in United States. Four Turing Awards, 5 National Medals of Technology, and 5 National Medals of Science, and outside the USA, many equivalents have been awarded for IBM. IBM have a sales figure for their PC's with their Chinese computer makers the Lenovo Group, which is partially owned by the Chinese government and is of $600 million US in Lenovo stock & $650 million US in cash.

The deal has been approved in the year 2005, by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. IBM has a 19% stake in Lenovo, which will appoint an IBM executive as its chief executive officer and move its headquarters to New York State. For an initial period of five years, the company will retain the right to use certain IBM brand names.

Lenovo inherited a product line that featured these ThinkPad laptops, a line of laptops that had been one of IBM's most successful products, as a result of this purchase.

 The ThinkPad models are great, solid ultraportable, with improved style security and performance. It has been the lightest convertible around, and its screen has a perfect paper-like feel for writing with 1024x768 maximum resolutions.
